Meet the Bear Creek Hounds
The Bear Creek Hounds are a relatively new Hunt – founded in 2003 and quickly recognized by the Masters
of Foxhounds Association of America (MFHA) in 2005. The Bear Creek Hounds were founded by Hal and Linda Barry after their years
of hunting with the Midland Fox Hounds. Throughout the season, Hal and Linda are our gracious hosts along with our enthusiastic
landowners. They have encouraged a large number of us to join the camaraderie of the Hunt through their perpetual love for foxhunting.
The
majority of our members are relatively new to foxhunting since the founding of the Bear Creek Hounds although we have several seasoned
foxhunters to offer advice and encouragement to the new comers. There is a lot of excitement and voluntarism to “chart the course”
of the Hunt while keeping the traditions of English foxhunting close to the heart. Lots of children of various ages join in the hunts
to insure a continuing supply of “new foxhunters” for our future.
Like our Hunt, many of our fixtures
are newly hunted territories which make for exciting times in ever developing “Hunt Country.” We all share the desire for land
conservation and wildlife preservation while enjoying a wonderful sport with hounds and horses. Our Masters, staff, members
and supporters are committed to creating a world-class pack of hounds!
We are a fun and family oriented Hunt, with a great future,
and outstanding landowners who offer huge support to our hunting activities. Come visit us and see what the Bear Creek Hounds
are all about. We hope you’ll be impressed!
